Red Deer man facing drug charges following Lacombe traffic stop

A 43-year-old man from Red Deer has been charged with drug offenses after a traffic stop in Lacombe.

Lacombe Police Service (LPS) says it was about 1:20 p.m. on Nov. 5 when members conducted a traffic stop on a blue 2012 Kia Soul in the 5000 block of 52 Street.

In the vehicle were three people.

During the stop, officers observed suspected controlled substances in plain view within the vehicle.

A subsequent search allegedly revealed trafficking quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, cocaine, carfentanil, and Xanax, along with two bags of unmarked pills, psilocybin, and a quantity of cash believed to be proceeds of crime.

Other drug paraphernalia was also located.

The Red Deer man is charged with four Counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, under Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. (Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Psilocybin).

The individual has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on January 8, 2026.

At this time, the name of the individual has been withheld pending the formal swearing of charges, LPS says.
