Olds College seeking ‘Home for the Holidays’ volunteers

Nov 12, 2025 | 2:59 PM

Olds College of Agriculture & Technology is appealing to residents for help with their Home for the Holidays initiative.

The program aims to make the season brighter for students from out-of-country and out-of-province.

Running from Dec. 12 to Jan. 4, the program — organized by the Olds College International Student Experience team — invites local residents, faculty and staff to host students for a festive or winter activity.

“We’re thrilled to bring back this initiative after such a positive response over the last couple of years,” says Dillion Andrus-Dobbs, registrar and director of student services. “It’s a wonderful way to foster connection and inclusivity while giving students a meaningful experience during the holiday season.”

Activities could range from a family dinner to volunteering together, or enjoying a toboggan run to lacing up for a skate or watching a holiday movie marathon, the college suggests.

Those interested in hosting can complete the “Become a Host” form, while students can fill out the “Join a Host Family” form by Dec. 5. Matches will be made on an ongoing basis, and participants will receive an email with details on how to connect and plan their activities.

Participants are encouraged to share their experiences on social media using #OCH4TH.
