Until Further Notice

Fire advisory now in effect in the County of Stettler

Nov 10, 2025 | 4:54 PM

The County of Stettler says as of Monday, they’ve reduced the previously posted fire restriction to a fire advisory.

This is because of the recent precipitation received over the weekend. Despite that, there are still limitations on burning at this time, and the fire advisory will remain in place until further notice.

Please consider the following:

  • New permits will be issued for a five-day period for small brush piles. Windrows and large brush piles remain prohibited at this time until the ground has a snow cover.
  • Allows essential burning in burning barrels that are constructed of noncombustible material that have a tight-fitting metal mesh screen with openings not larger than 13 mm.
  • Allows backyard fire pits and safe wood campfires contained by non-combustible material with a metal mesh screen with openings no larger than 13 mm. Portable propane fire pits, gas or propane stoves and barbecues.
  • Abide by the requirements of the Forest and Prairie Protection Act and the Substance Release Regulation.
  • Winds must be less than 10 kilometres per hour, and one adult must be in attendance.
  • Consideration must be given to neighbours to avoid physical discomfort as a result of burning.
