Oct 30, 2025 | 12:11 PM

The Public Health Agency of Canada is investigating an outbreak of Salmonella infections linked to certain Puppy Love and Puppy World dog treats.

As of the latest update on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 32 confirmed cases have been reported across Canada, including 15 in British Columbia, 14 in Alberta, one in the Northwest Territories, and two in Ontario.

Eight people have reportedly been hospitalized, and no deaths have been reported.

The company has recalled several products sold between February and October 2025, including:

  • Puppy Love Beef Chew (4 pack)
  • Puppy Love Chicken Breast (120g, 300g)
  • Puppy Love Chicken Wing Tips (120g)
  • Puppy World Lamb Lung (150g, 340g, 454g)

Testing confirmed Salmonella in samples of these products.

The investigation remains active, and additional sources may be identified.

Health officials advise the public to check for recalled products and dispose of them safely.

Handwashing and proper sanitation after handling dog food, treats, or pets are being recommended to reduce the risk of infection.

According to the Public Health Agency, symptoms of Salmonella infection may include fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps, usually appearing within 6 to 72 hours after exposure.
