The Red Deer Rebels put an end to their four-game losing streak on Saturday night.

They shut out the Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-0 on the road at the visitlethbridge.com arena with a 19-save performance from goaltender Chase Wutzke.

Samuel Drancak, Talon Brigley, Arjun Bawa, Noah Milford, and Landon MacSwain all found the scoresheet as they improve their record to 2-6 in the Eastern Conference.

The Rebels got on the board first, midway through the first period.

Forward Samuel Drancak, from Czechia, knocked in a rebound in front of the net after he followed up on a shot from captain Talon Brigley.

Red Deer added to their lead in the second period when rookie forward Landon MacSwain scored his first Western Hockey League goal.

The 18-year-old from Anchorage, Alaska, ripped a shot from the left circle on the offensive rush off a pass from forward Beckett Hamilton.

In the third period, the Rebels extended their lead by four with goals from Brigley and Arjun Bawa.

Brigley’s third goal of the season came nearly eight minutes into the final frame when he beat the goaltender from the right circle.

Three and a half minutes after that, Bawa scored his first of the year after a pass out front from rookie forward Noah Milford.

In the final few minutes, Milford added on to an already substantial lead to make it 5-0 with a powerplay goal.

Red Deer was without forward Matthew Gard and goaltender Peyton Shore, who were both suspended for their actions in Friday’s home loss to the Moose Jaw Warriors.

Next up, the Rebels will host the Portland Winterhawks and Spokane Chiefs next Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 18 at 7 and 6 p.m.
