New 13-court pickleball facility to open in Red Deer

A new indoor pickleball facility is coming to Red Deer this fall.

The 13-court facility will be opened at Bower Place by the Fairgrounds organization, a free-to-join public racket club with locations in Ontario and B.C.

The location is going to be its first location in Alberta.

“Expanding to Alberta is an exciting milestone for Fairgrounds,” said Drummond Munro, co-founder of Fairgrounds. “Red Deer has a vibrant, active community that makes it the perfect home for our first facility in the province. We’re excited to bring people together through the power of pickleball and create a space where everyone feels welcome.”

When the location opens, there will be a variety of pricing options, including drop-in or regular. In addition, there will be a by-the-hour option as well as monthly membership options. Player improvement programming, including beginner leagues, clinics, and coaching, will also be available.

There will also be a lounge where food and beverages will be served.

“At QuadReal, we are committed to shaping destinations that bring people together through meaningful experiences,” said Ben Windsor, Marketing Director at Bower Place. “Fairgrounds is an ideal partner in that vision. Their dynamic, community-first approach to sport will add new energy to Bower Place, offering Red Deer residents not just a place to play, but a space to connect, stay active, and create lasting memories.”

According to Fairgrounds, pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in North America and is an easy-to-learn game that encourages movement, connection, and fun.

Up until now, the only dedicated pickleball courts are the Red Deer Pickleball Club’s outdoor facilities near St. Joseph High School.
