Man sentenced in Red Deer shooting
Sentencing took place this week for a man charged following a Red Deer shooting in broad daylight last year.
Abdullahi Ahmed Dahir, 36, of no fixed address, was sentenced in Red Deer Court of Justice on Sept. 2, 2025, to 540 days in jail but given 479 days credit for time already served, leaving him with 61 days left to serve. He was also given a firearm prohibition.
Dahir was convicted on counts of possession of a prohibited firearm, and possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm. Six other counts against him were withdrawn.
His co-accused, Jamie Taralynn Ward, 32, of no fixed address, saw all four counts against her withdrawn, on Sept. 2, 2025.
