Lacombe Police Service looking for suspect who fled from traffic stop

The Lacombe Police Service are looking for a suspect who was unable to be pulled over in a traffic stop last Saturday.

Police say on Aug. 23, they witnessed a silver four-door sedan they believed to be a 2005-07 Ford Five Hundred car, driving in an erratic manner eastbound on Woodland Drive toward C&E Trail.

Police attempted a traffic stop after they determined the vehicle’s license plate CRL-9363 did not match the vehicle. However, the suspect failed to stop and was described as a white man wearing glasses.

He continued northbound on Highway 2 at speeds of 160 km/h but police did not pursue the suspect because of public safety concerns.

Instead, a ‘be on the lookout’ (BOLO) was issued to surrounding police detachments.

Police determined in a follow up investigation that the license plate had been stolen from an auto repair business in a nearby community.
