Town of Penhold plants new trees and shrubs thanks to FCM grant
The Town of Penhold is set to make the community more green thanks to a significant grant from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM).
The town is receiving $175,000 from the Green Municipal Fund grant to plant 114 new trees and 142 shrubs in four key sites, including Critters Corner playground, Waskasoo Avenue, Penhold Commons, and the future dog park location.
By doing this, the town hopes to create more shade, habitat, and beauty for years to come.
“This investment is about more than planting trees—it’s about planting roots for our future,” said Mayor Mike Yargeau. “Penhold is already a beautiful community, and with these new plantings, we’re making sure that beauty will only grow. I can’t wait to see these spaces flourish and transform over time.”
