Lacombe cop, suspended for fraud allegations, resigns

Jul 16, 2025 | 8:45 PM

A member of Lacombe Police Service (LPS) recently suspended after allegedly being involved in some form of fraud has since resigned.

After receiving allegations involving one of its officers, LPS took immediate steps, they say, to ensure transparency and accountability.

On July 3, the officer was suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.

They say that due to the seriousness of the allegations, and in accordance with provincial protocols, the matter has been formally reported to the Director of Law Enforcement, and the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has been engaged.

Charges have not formally been laid, thus the officer’s name has not yet been released.

“We hold our members to the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. Allegations of this nature are taken very seriously, and we are committed to a thorough and impartial investigation,” says Chief of Police Jason Dobirstein.

“These allegations are isolated to the involved officer and are not related to operational on-duty conduct. The members and staff of the Lacombe Police Service are strongly committed to the values of this police service, including honesty, integrity, and character.”

As this is an active investigation, no further details will be released at this time, and updates will come from ASIRT.
