UPDATE: Tornado watch in effect for Ponoka, Rimbey areas, and other parts of Alberta (6 p.m.)

As of 6 p.m. Wednesday, a tornado watch is in effect for parts of central Alberta, near Ponoka and Rimbey.

As of 5:30 p.m., a heat warning remains in place for the Red Deer area.

The daytime high for Wednesday was expected to hit 30 degrees Celsius, before cooling off Thursday.
