Clearview Public Schools launches Heartland Academy

Jun 26, 2025 | 10:04 AM

Clearview Public Schools has announced the launch of the Heartland Academy, a new learning model meant to offer career-focused education for high school students in the province.

The academy will begin educating in July 2025 where students will get the opportunity to earn credits with hands on learning to prepare them for future careers.

This includes the Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP), the green certificate, dual credit programs, work experience, and 1-credit CTR modules.

“Heartland Academy is about meeting students where they’re at and giving them meaningful, real-world options to support their learning journey,” said Jason Faber, Principal of Heartland Academy, in a media release. “We’re creating space for students to explore career interests, gain certifications, and earn credits. All in a way that fits their life and schedule.”

There is no fixed location for the Heartland Academy, and is designed to serve students both within Clearview Public Schools and beyond. This makes it a desirable option for students who are working to pursue career education.

Led by principal Jason Faber with administrative support from Lori Eno, the school will feature experienced teachers such as Amanda Hawkins and Karen Belland.

Career Engagement Facilitator, Candace Maruk will also work with students to find work experience placements, career pathways, and post-secondary partnerships.

Clearview Public Schools has also partnered with Olds College and Red Deer Polytechnic to offer dual credit opportunities in the health care aide program, meat processing certification, and veterinary technician assistant certification.

This summer, the academy will offer the work experience program, where students can earn high school credits for summer jobs. They’ll be able to earn up to 10 credits toward graduation while also gaining real-world skills.

“Students don’t have to choose between school and work,” said Candace Maruk, in a media release. “At Heartland Academy, work is learning. We’re here to help students get credit for the skills they’re already building.”

Enrollment is now open to all Alberta high school students who can start anytime in July or August. All course work will be completed by the end of August.

Even those outside of Clearview Public Schools can apply and a short interest form is available online.
