Fire advisory issued for Lacombe County

Jun 2, 2025 | 4:32 PM

A fire advisory has been issued for Lacombe County because of warm, dry, and windy conditions, as well as a lack of forecasted precipitation.

The advisory was put in place on Monday because the county said the conditions have elevated the risk of wildfire in Alberta.

They are asking everyone to be fire smart and take extra precautions to prevent wildfires.

They have continued to issue fire permits for minor burns but permits for large burns will be issued until conditions improve.

Under a fire advisory there are still a number of activities allowed such as small, permitted burns. Safe wood campfires, backyard fire pits, portable propane fire pits, gas or propane barbecues, and catalytic or infrared-style heaters are also allowed.

The County added it’s important to check for hot spots on off-highway vehicles, never leave a campfire unattended, safely dispose of cigarette butts, and make sure completed burns are completely extinguished.
