Town of Ponoka launches website to gain citizen input on 2026 budget

May 30, 2025 | 4:18 PM

The Town of Ponoka is giving residents the opportunity to provide input on the 2026 budget.

Although dates and times haven’t been set, the town will host Coffee with Council events this spring and summer to hear what the public has to say. Those in attendance will get the opportunity to share their thoughts and ask questions on the annual budget to council members.

The dates and times will be published to the Town of Ponoka website and on social media at a later date.

“The annual public consultation process on the town budget is an important part of the town’s ongoing commitment to inviting public participation in council decision-making processes,” said Ponoka Mayor Kevin Ferguson. “Inviting public input allows town council to make more informed and thoughtful decisions that reflect what residents value most.”

Meanwhile, they’re also asking for residents to complete its citizen input survey to share their thoughts and suggestions on the top priorities council should consider in the upcoming budget.

To fill out the survey, residents can register and sign in to Let’s Talk Ponoka, the town’s online engagement website. Citizens will be asked to register for the site by providing their email and postal code.

The survey is part of a virtual budget open house hosted by the town which will give residents the opportunity to learn more about the budget planning process, how funds are allocated, and answer budget related questions.

Paper copies of the citizen input survey will be available at the Coffee with Council events and at the town office at 200, 5604-50 Street.

They will also be available at the Ponoka Aquaplex at 5315 46 Avenue and the Ponoka Arena Complex during regular business hours. Completed surveys can be dropped off at those facilities or mailed.

Once the input is collected, it will be summarized and presented to council for review and consideration during the 2026 budget deliberation process, which will take place on Nov. 26, 27 and 28.
