Construction for Gasoline Alley roundabout expansion to begin May 21

Red Deer County has announced that they’re expanding the roundabout on Leva Avenue and Laura Avenue in the north end of West Gasoline Alley.

The work is scheduled to begin on May 21 and is expected to take approximately seven weeks to complete.

Traffic will continue to move through the roundabout during construction with reduced lane widths, lane closures, and with slower speeds in the area.

The planned work in the roundabout includes relocating street lighting and catch basins; upgrading the granular base and asphalt pavement; installing new concrete curbs and sidewalks; refreshing road markings; and restoring landscaping.

The construction will take place from Monday to Saturday at 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The county says to avoid delays, the public is encouraged to use other routes into Gasoline Alley such as entry from Highway 2A to Lantern Street or Mckenzie Road.

For safety, please exercise caution, slow down and respect speed limits in designated areas.
