RDES investigating cause of structure fire on 42 Street

Red Deer Emergency Services were called to a minor structure fire on 42 Street between 56 and 57 Avenue just before midnight yesterday.

Officials say there was minor damage to the exterior of the apartment building and no injuries were reported.

Three engines and a ladder truck responded to the scene and residents of the building were temporarily evacuated. However, they were allowed to return after two hours once the blaze was extinguished.

Crews continue to investigate the cause of the fire but say it doesn’t appear to be suspicious.
