A Maskwacis-born bullfighter brought some love to the community of O’Chiese First Nation this week.

Kristopher Buffalo is a highly accomplished bullfighter, and in partnership with the non-profit Classroom Champions, he surprised students with an inspiring visit.

“Rodeo has taught me that strength comes not just from the wins, but from getting back up after the falls,” Buffalo said before he met with students.

“I hope my journey shows these students that no matter where you come from, your dreams are valid—and with resilience and heart, anything is possible. I can’t wait to meet them in person and hear about what they have learned through our work with Classroom Champions this year.”

In his career, Buffalo has earned seven buckles and 12 finals over 16 years in the arena, and he continues to defy expectations.

Classroom Champions, in collaboration with Spartan Delta and The Energizing Communities Collective, has been able to expand its mentorship programming in underserved schools across western Canada by 600 per cent.

The Collective is a group of 23 energy companies, formed in 2023, to help Calgary-based Classroom Champions achieve its mission of fostering students’ social, emotional, and academic growth by connecting them with elite athlete mentors.
