Man sentenced to five years in central Alberta shooting
A five-year jail term was handed to a central Alberta man this week convicted in a shooting three years ago.
Jesse Cabry, 32, of Maskwacis, was sentenced in Wetaskiwin Court of King’s Bench on April 14, 2025, after pleading guilty during his trial to counts of aggravated assault, use of firearm while committing an offence, and possession of a prohibited firearm. Counts of attempted murder, and pointing a firearm were withdrawn.
Cabry was also given a firearm prohibition and enhanced credit for pre-trial custody of 2007 days, satisfied by time already served.
It was on March 2, 2022, at 2:30 a.m. when Maskwacis RCMP responded to a shots-fired complaint on the Samson Cree Nation town site.
