Bentley’s Declan Peterson picked third overall in CEBL Draft

Bentley local Declan Peterson will play for the Saskatchewan Rattlers in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) after he was picked by the franchise last Thursday.

On April 10, the 2025 CEBL draft saw Peterson chosen third overall in round one.

All together, 30 student athletes were selected from 25 different academic institutions over three rounds, including 21 first-time CEBL players and nine returning.

Peterson recently completed his first season with the University of Calgary Dinos men’s basketball team, during which he averaged 8.0 points and 7.2 rebounds in just under 19 minutes per game. He started 21 of 22 games.

Each CEBL club made three selections in total, one per round. The priority of selection in round one was the reverse order of how each team finished the 2024 regular season and the following rounds used a “snake format” in reverse order of the previous.
