Red Deer’s Easton Daneault has been named the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Rookie of the Year.
Daneault, a 16-year-old forward with the Drumheller Dragons, was named as a finalist a couple weeks ago, alongside fellow Red Deerian Cooper Moore of the Lloydminster Bobcats.
Two weeks in a row this past December, Daneault was named AJHL Rookie of the Week. He also racked up five Player of the Game honours, and scored five game-winning goals.
Daneault ranked seventh in the AJHL Scoring Race with an average of 1.04 points per game and 56 points (21G, 35A), including 24 points on the Dragons powerplay.
