Kristian Lyon, a fourth-year goaltender, played a significant role in helping the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team earn gold at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men’s Hockey Championship. This gold medal was the Kings’ third consecutive championship, joining the NAIT Ooks, SAIT Trojans and MacEwan University Griffins (now a member of U Sports) as ACAC Men’s Hockey teams to accomplish a three-peat.

In game four of the best-of-five series, Lyon made 38 saves (0.974), helping the Kings earn a 3-1 victory over the visiting Briercrest College Clippers.

Lyon led the ACAC in most major goalie statistics during the 2024/2025 playoffs. Langley’s Lyon ranked first in goals against average (2.17), save percentage (0.937), total saves (252) and win percentage (0.875).

Lyon (Business Administration General Management) was named ACAC Men’s Hockey Playoff MVP.
