RDES respond to ‘suspicious’ fire Sunday in Red Deer’s Edgar area

Red Deer Emergency Services responded to a fire Sunday afternoon in the Edgar Industrial area.

Crews responded at about 5:20 p.m., as black smoke could be seen from some distance.

Deputy Chief Curtis Schaefer says upon arrival at 7240/7280 Johnstone Drive, the Nossack and Gentek Building properties, members discovered a number of wooden pallets on fire. The pallets were piled against the back of one of the buildings.

The fire damaged the building’s exterior siding and some insulation.
