Feb 25, 2025 | 4:58 PM

If you’re looking for laughter, charm and small town mischief, look no further than Central Alberta Theatre’s newest production, Opal’s Million Dollar Duck.

Written by John Patrick, the CAT season closer follows Desmond and Queenie, two struggling summer-stock actors who find an old painting in an antique shop and hatch a scheme to retrieve it. The painting resembles a missing masterpiece with a hefty reward, but the shop owner has no interest in selling.

Enjoy deception, disguises and outrageous antics as the two embark on a comedic rollercoaster.

Susan Dearing, Director, shared her favourite quote from the play: “Things alluz work out-even ef it does take a hundred an’ five years, six months, three days an’ twenty minutes.”

Catch the show at 7:30 p.m. on March 7, 8, and 13-15 and at 1 p.m. on March 9 and 16.

Shows will be held in the Studio Theatre, upstairs at CAT Studios (Red Deer Memorial Centre).

Tickets are available online, through the CAT box office or by calling 403-967-1769.

Residents can also take advantage of a Dinner and a Show offer by showing their ticket to a participating restaurant for 10 per cent off selected menu items on the night of the performance. Partner restaurants include Jumble Eats, Original Joe’s, Danielle’s/D2, Occam’s Razor and The Velvet Olive.
