RDP Athletes of the Week: Feb. 14-16

Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Athletics is very proud to announce Zoey Longman (Queens Indoor Track) and Jordan Coen (Kings Indoor Track) as the RDP Athletes of the Week:

Zoey Longman
Queens Indoor Track
Program – Legal Assistant (second year)
Hometown – Sylvan Lake, Alberta

Zoey Longman was a key contributor to the success of the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Indoor Track team at Running Room Grand Prix #2. She helped to guide the Queens (68 points) to first place at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre. Longman and the RDP Queens also ranked first at Running Room Grand Prix #1.

Longman was a member of the Queens 4 x 400 m relay team (4:14.82) that finished first in Red Deer. She also solidified third in the women’s 600 m (1:44.69).

In addition to her impactful Indoor Track results, Longman helped the RDP Queens Basketball team earn two weekend victories over the Olds College Broncos. In Friday’s 72-39 win, the second-year Legal Assistant student recorded 14 points, four steals, three assists and one rebound. Then after competing at Running Room Grand Prix #2, Sylvan Lake’s Longman scored a team-leading 24 points for the Queens Basketball team Saturday evening. She added six steals, five assists and one rebound. Longman was recognized as the Queens Player of the Game.

Jordan Coen
Kings Indoor Track
Program – Bachelor of Kinesiology (third year)
Hometown – Grimshaw, Alberta

Jordan Coen was instrumental in the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Indoor Track team (33 points) placing third at Running Room Grand Prix #2. He provided valuable leadership to the young Kings squad.

Coen, a third-year student-athlete from Grimshaw, captured top spot in the men’s 1,500 m (4:28.47) on his home track. He finished third in the men’s 1,000 m (2:41.65).

Coen (Bachelor of Kinesiology) was a member of the second place RDP Kings 4 x 400 m relay team (3:44.28) that trailed the top seed Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks (3:39.24) by only five seconds.

Lethbridge Polytechnic will host Running Room Grand Prix #3 on Saturday, March 1.
