This week in RDP Athletics

This week, the Red Deer Polytechnic Indoor Track team will host Running Room Grand Prix #2. The RDP Volleyball squads will face the Olds College Broncos in a home-and-home series. The Kings Hockey team will play the Briercrest College Clippers twice at home. The RDP Queens Hockey team will match up against the Rattlers in Medicine Hat. Both basketball squads will tip-off against the Olds College Broncos.

Tickets to watch the Kings and Queens compete at home can be purchased online. There is no charge to watch Running Room Grand Prix #2.

Indoor Track | Grand Prix #2 | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, February 15

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens Indoor Track teams will look to continue their strong performances at Running Room Grand Prix #2 held at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

At Running Room Grand Prix #1, the RDP Queens earned top spot among female teams. The Kings ranked fourth among male squads.

Volleyball

RDP Queens at Olds College | Friday, February 14 | 6 p.m.

The third place Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Volleyball team (11-6) will challenge the Olds College Broncos (3-14) on the road. The Broncos are sixth in the south.

Queens vs Broncos | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, February 15 | 6 p.m.

The RDP Queens will host the Olds College Broncos in their final regular season match. The Queens have already qualified for the postseason. The top four teams in each division will advance to the playoffs.

Red Deer Polytechnic Kings at Olds College | Friday, February 14 | 8 p.m.

The first place Kings Volleyball team (16-1) will face the Broncos at Olds College. The Broncos (10-7) are third in the ACAC Men’s Volleyball South Division.

Kings vs Broncos | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, February 15 | 8 p.m.

In the final regular season match, the RDP Kings will play the Broncos at home. The Kings have already booked their ticket to the postseason.

This season, the RDP Kings rank second with 160 stuff blocks, only three behind Keyano College.

Hockey

Queens at Medicine Hat College | Friday, February 14 | 7 p.m.

The third place RDP Queens Hockey team (14W-6L-1 OTL) will face-off against the sixth seed Rattlers (2W17L-2 OTL) in Medicine Hat.

The Queens have scored 18 power play goals this season.

Queens at Medicine Hat College | Saturday, February 15 | 1 p.m.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens will battle the Rattlers to complete the weekend series. After this game, the Queens have two regular season games remaining.

The top four teams, which includes the Queens, will qualify for the playoffs.

RDP Kings vs Clippers | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, February 14 | 7 p.m.

The third seed Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team (11W-6L-2 OTL-1 SOL) will host the first place Briercrest College Clippers (15W-4L-1 OTL-0 SOL). The Kings have scored six shorthanded goals this season.

RDP Kings vs Clippers | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, February 15 | 1 p.m.

The RDP Kings and Clippers will complete their weekend series Saturday afternoon. After this game, the Kings will play a pair of contests in Lac La Biche.

The Kings have already made the playoffs. The top six squads will advance to the postseason.

Basketball

Queens vs Broncos | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, February 14 | 6 p.m.

The fourth place Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Basketball team (10-9) will tip-off against the eighth seed Olds College Broncos (2-17).

Fairview’s Tyla Hammermaster-Phillips has averaged 6.4 points per game for the Queens.

RDP Queens at Olds College | Saturday, February 15 | 6 p.m.

The RDP Queens will wrap up regular season competition against the Broncos in Olds. The top four teams in each division will advance to the postseason.

RDP Kings vs Broncos | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, February 14 | 8 p.m.

The seventh place Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Basketball team (6-13) will compete against the Broncos at home. The Broncos (7-12) are sixth in the south.

The Kings have averaged 38.4 rebounds per game.

Kings at Olds College | Saturday, February 15 | 8 p.m.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings will wrap up their season against the Broncos on the road.
