Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Athletics is very proud to announce Kaylee Raniseth (Queens Curling) and Nick Woznesensksy (Kings Curling) as the Boston Pizza RDP Athletes of the Week:

Kaylee Raniseth

Queens Curling

Program – Bachelor of Education Middle Years (4th)

Hometown – Delburne, Alberta

Kaylee Raniseth was outstanding for the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Curling team at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Curling Championships held at the Pidherney Centre from February 7-9, 2025. She played an integral role in helping the Queens earn ACAC gold.

In collaboration with her teammates, Raniseth was highly effective in creating and executing the Queens’ strategy, while being adaptable to the ebbs and flows of each game. As skip, she made many high quality shots that swung momentum in favour of the Polytechnic.

Delburne’s Raniseth and the RDP Queens had an unbeaten record at the Championships, going 3-0 during round robin play. They also downed the Concordia University Thunder 5-4 to advance directly to the gold medal game where the two teams met in a rematch. The Queens earned a 5-2 decision.

Raniseth, a Bachelor of Education Middle Years student, was named the 2024/2025 ACAC Female Curler of the Year.

Raniseth and the Queens will compete at the 2025 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA)/Curling Canada College Championships held February 24-28 at Lethbridge Curling Club.

Nick Woznesensksy

Kings Curling

Program – Bachelor of Education Secondary Years (4th)

Hometown – Red Deer, Alberta

Nick Woznesensksy (third) made a meaningful impact for the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Curling team at the ACAC Curling Championships. He played extremely well, executed many accurate shots and helped the Kings solidify an ACAC silver medal on their home ice.

Red Deer’s Woznesensksy (Bachelor of Education Secondary Years) worked well with his teammates, helping the Kings (3-0) rank first after round robin play. Then the RDP Kings defeated the SAIT Trojans 5-4 to qualify for the gold medal game. In the final, the Trojans shaded the Kings 7-6. It was the RDP Kings’ only setback of the weekend.

Woznesensksy, a talented, fourth-year student-athlete from Red Deer, and the Kings will compete at the 2025 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA)/Curling Canada College Championships. The prestigious event will be held in Lethbridge from February 24-28, 2025.
