Preliminary hearing scheduled for Red Deer man charged in drugs and firearm seizure

Feb 7, 2025 | 1:51 PM

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a Red Deer man facing charges following an incident with police last year.

Corim Conway, 33, will find out if his case has enough evidence to go to trial on Oct. 7, 2025, in Red Deer Court of Justice.

It was about 5:25 p.m. on Sept. 21, 2024, when Red Deer RCMP were called to assist local peace officers with an individual who’d fled a traffic stop in south Red Deer.

Mounties say the suspect left behind a satchel and backpack; alleging a firearm was found inside the satchel, with 534 grams of fentanyl and other apparent drug trafficking-related items inside the backpack.

As a result of their investigation, Red Deer RCMP arrested the suspect at his home on Sept. 29, 2024, and charged Corimm Conway with the following:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Careless use/storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of loaded firearm
  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm
  • Possession of firearm with altered serial number
  • Possession of a weapon contrary to an order x7
  • Failure to comply with release order x 4
  • Driving while prohibited
