A 32-year-old Red Deer man faces numerous charges following an incident with police last month.

Red Deer RCMP say it was about 5:25 p.m. on Sept. 21 when they were called to assist local peace officers with an individual who’d fled a traffic stop in south Red Deer.

The suspect left behind a satchel and backpack; RCMP found a firearm inside the satchel, and then 534 grams of fentanyl and other apparent drug trafficking-related items inside the backpack.

As a result of their investigation Red Deer RCMP arrested Corim Conway at his home on Sept. 29, and he has been charged with the following:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Careless use/storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of loaded firearm
  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm
  • Possession of firearm with altered serial number
  • Possession of a weapon contrary to an order x7
  • Failure to comply with release order x 4
  • Driving while prohibited

Conway was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody.
