Red Deer RCMP arrest Ontario man for alleged drug trafficking

Feb 6, 2025 | 10:49 AM

The Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section has arrested a 19-year-old Ontario man following a drug trafficking investigation.

Mounties say the suspect has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000, possession of items used to traffic controlled substances, and obstruction of a peace officer.

This comes after police conducted a search warrant at a residence on Feb. 4, in the Vanier neighbourhood of Red Deer. As a result, police say they seized 730 grams of cocaine, over 400 oxycodone tablets, items used for production of crack cocaine, other items used in trafficking of controlled substances, and over $4,500 in Canadian currency.

“Drug trafficking is a serious concern within our communities. In many cases, drug users often fund their drug habits through committing other crime,” said Cst. Andrew Devine of Red Deer RCMP GIS in a media release.

“Red Deer RCMP remain committed to addressing drug trafficking activities and the subsequent crime it causes.”

Police say the suspect was brought before a Justice of the Peace and releaased on an order with conditions. He’s scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 27, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
