United Nurses of Alberta (UNA) will hold rallies across Alberta on Saturday to show support for safe staffing, safe patient care, and more respect for frontline health care workers.
That includes in Red Deer where members will rally from 11-1 on the corner of Gaetz Avenue and 32 Street.
“The Day of Action is happening on the anniversary of an important milestone in UNA’s history — the start of the 1988 nurses’ strike, which saw more than 14,000 nurses at hospitals across Alberta walk off the job, beginning the last province-wide strike by UNA members,” the UNA says in a release.
Other demonstrations are happening in Calgary, Edmonton, Banff, Bonnyville, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Olds, St. Albert, Slave Lake, and Two Hills.
