Poplar Ridge soon to welcome third generation of Belich family students
A local family, the Belichs, are celebrating what Chinook’s Edge calls an “unbroken record” of enrollment, with two generations and 44 years of family members attending its Poplar Ridge Elementary School.
The family has had at least one member enrolled as a student at the school since it opened in 1981 and, in total, has 30 individuals that can claim they walked those halls; the number of Belich alumni grows even more when you consider second and third cousins.
Additionally, the third generation is expected to begin attending the school in the next few years, as the family’s first great-grandchild becomes old enough. At that time, the end of the second generation will still be attending as well.
The legacy was realized during a discussion with Principal Kimberley Cocks, who is relatively new to the school and was getting to know the family while they were helping out at the school.
