Central Alberta Immigrant Women’s Association receives federal grant
The Government of Canada has announced up to $40 million in funding for 170 women’s and Indigenous women’s organizations across Canada, and the Central Alberta Immigrant Women’s Association (CAIWA) was chosen as a recipient.
The organization received $374,380 this summer to fund technological upgrades including data management, cybersecurity and service delivery that should help it better reach its central Alberta clients.
“It’s a project [where] the aim is to implement an information technology system and related digital infrastructure that’s capable of improving CAIWA’s capacity,” explained CAIWA Executive Director Halima Ali. “Those capacities are how we are serving our community.”
The grant comes from Canada’s Women’s Capacity Fund, which is intended to increase organizations’ capacities to achieve their goals, build knowledge and implement change.
