Sylvan Lake to open lake rink on Friday

The Town of Sylvan Lake says the lake rink will open on Friday.

The rink, which is located just east of the pier, will officially open on Dec. 20, at 4 p.m. The gates will be open for parking near the rink and all other community rinks are also open.

They encourage everyone to have fun but say the ice safety is only monitored in the rink area and those who move beyond that, are responsible for their ice safety.

Travel beyond the lake rink is not recommended and officials say to stay away from cracks, pressure ridges, and slushy areas. Ice conditions can change rapidly.

The Town also says with no supervision provided, it’s important to use caution and be considerate of others.
