Sylvan Lake updates waste pick up schedule for the holidays
The Town of Sylvan Lake has added an additional recycling pick up day to help households with holiday waste, and has shared guidelines on live Christmas tree disposal.
The Public Works department will be picking up live Christmas trees from Jan. 6-17, 2025. If you are having your tree picked up, the town asks that you remove all lights, decorations, tree stands and plastic bags; and place it for pick up where your garbage is normally collected by 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6. It may take up to 10 days for trees to be collected, so you’re reminded to leave them out until Jan. 17.
Live trees can also be dropped off at the Waste Transfer Site for free during operating hours (Wednesday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). It will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.
The town has also added another recycling day to the week of Jan. 7-10. Residents should put their blue recycling cart out for collection near the black garbage cart by 8 a.m. on their regular garbage collection day.
