Red Deer to host U15 AAA Hockey Alberta Provincial Championship

The U15 AAA Red Deer Rebels will host the upcoming Hockey Alberta Provincial Championship in the new year.

From March 20-23, the Rebels will host the province’s top teams in a five-team tournament at Servus Arena.

The tournament will feature the host Red Deer Rebels along with four other teams that won their semi-final matchups during the Alberta Elite Hockey League playoffs. If the Rebels were to qualify for provincials by winning in the semifinals, the highest-seeded team eliminated from that Division’s semifinal would also qualify for provincials.

So far this regular season, the Rebels are in third place in the south division with a 12-4-0-1-0 record, just five points behind the Calgary Northstars and Calgary Bisons who are tied for first place.

Red Deer’s next games are this weekend when they host the Bisons on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Servus Arena followed by a matchup on the road against the Calgary Royals on Sunday.

Central Alberta will also host the U18 A Female provincials in Red Deer/ Delburne and the U16 AA Male provincials in Camrose from March 20-23. During that time, Lacombe is set to host the U13 B Male provincials.

Later in the month, Sylvan Lake will host the U13 AA Male provincials from March 27-30 and that same weekend, Stettler will host the U13 Female A provincials.
