Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Athletics is very proud to announce Lauren Junck (Queens Volleyball) and Drew Dykstra (Kings Volleyball) as the Boston Pizza RDP Athletes of the Week:

Lauren Junck

Queens Volleyball

Program – Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (3rd)

Hometown – Red Deer, Alberta

This past Friday, outside hitter Lauren Junck played a prominent role in the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Volleyball team defeating the Concordia University Thunder in four sets (25-15, 25-10, 20-25 and 25-16).

The talented Bachelor of Arts in Psychology student contributed 16 points (13 kills, two service aces and one stuff block) in the road victory. Red Deer’s Junck was named the Queens Player-of-the-Game for her impactful contributions.

Over 20 sets, Junck has averaged 3.25 kills (0.407), 1.35 digs and 0.40 service aces per set this season.

The RDP Queens (3-2) rank second in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women’s Volleyball South Division.

Junck and the Queens will play The King’s University Eagles and Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves on the road this weekend.

Kings Volleyball

Program – Open Studies (1st)

Hometown – Bentley, Alberta

In his first start in the ACAC, Drew Dykstra had an outstanding performance for the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Volleyball team.

On Friday, the six-foot-five setter accumulated 24 assists, four digs, three service aces and one kill in the Kings’ three set sweep over the Concordia University Thunder (25-14, 25-18 and 25- 12). Dykstra was named the Kings Player-of-the Match.

The Kings (5-0) are the only undefeated team in ACAC Men’s Volleyball.

This weekend, Bentley’s Dykstra (Open Studies) and the RDP Kings will challenge The King’s University Eagles and Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves.
