This Week in RDP Athletics: Nov. 15-17

This week, the Red Deer Polytechnic Basketball teams will welcome the Concordia University Thunder to the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre. The Queens Hockey team will face-off against the Rustlers on the road. Both RDP Volleyball squads will play the Thunder in Edmonton.

Here is a summary of the upcoming competition:

Basketball

RDP Queens vs Thunder | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Fri., Nov. 15 | 6 pm

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Basketball team (3-1) will host the Concordia University Thunder (0-4).

Rachel Harvey, a six-foot-one forward from Brooks, leads the Queens offence, averaging 11.7 points per game.

Kings vs Thunder | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Fri., Nov. 15 | 8 pm

The RDP Kings (3-1) will tip-off against the Thunder (2-2) at home.

Payton Baltzer (Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences) leads the ACAC in three-point shooting, sinking 85.7 per cent of his attempts. Baltzer, a six-foot-four guard from Rocky Mountain House, also ranks third in the league in field goal percentage (61.9).

Hockey

Queens at Lakeland College | Friday, November 15 | 7 pm

The third seed RDP Queens Hockey team (5W-3L- 1 OTL) will challenge the first place Lakeland College Rustlers (9-0) on the road.

The Queens have the top penalty kill in the league (92.3%).

Volleyball

Queens at Concordia University | Friday, November 15 | 6 pm

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Volleyball team (2-2) will compete against the Concordia University Thunder (0-4) in Edmonton.

Lauren Junck (Bachelor of Arts in Psychology), a third-year outside hitter for RDP, ranks fifth in the ACAC with 3.25 kills per set.

Kings at Concordia University | Friday, November 15 | 8 pm

The RDP Kings (4-0) will put their undefeated record to the test against the Thunder (0-4).

Kings’ libero Bradley Noskey (Business Diploma) shares the ACAC lead with 2.55 digs per set.
