Sep 27, 2024 | 4:40 PM

The Holiday Season may be a few months away yet, but Red Deerians are being encouraged to get into the spirit of giving this weekend as starting Saturday, Sept. 28, and running until Friday, Oct. 18, you can drop off your gently used coats and winter items for kids and adults for this year’s Coats 4 Kids fundraiser.

Coats for Kids is now being distributed through the Red Deer Christmas Bureau Society.

A Charity Check Stop hosted by the Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre (CACPC) will also be held Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10:00-4:00 p.m. along Taylor Drive. Additional drop-off locations will be at Classic Cleaners (4912 35 Street), The Coverall Shop (6722 Gaetz Avenue or 7610 Edgar Industrial Avenue), Village Dry Cleaners (B 5101 76 Street), and Mustang Laundry (6830 59 Avenue).

On the weeks of October 14-18 and October 21-25, Coats for Kids will be distributed at the Bureau.

All clients, including children, will need to provide AHC cards and parents will also be required to provide proof of address. (must be clients of Red Deer, Red Deer County, Penhold, or Springbrook).

Pick-up times will be 10 am to 4 pm – The Christmas Bureau will try to provide an assortment of coats for all ages and accessories but can’t guarantee sizing, as these coats are donated by the community.
