Wetaskiwin RCMP have charged four people with an assortment of weapon and other offences after they allegedly received an oil change and left without paying.

On September 18, Wetaskiwin RCMP received report of the theft and quickly located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Officers say the suspect then went into reverse and rammed the police vehicle. Despite this, they were able to approach the vehicle and safely arrest all four occupants, including a driver who allegedly tried to flee on foot.

Officers searched the vehicle and reported finding a shotgun; a loaded semi-automatic assault rifle; a modified rifle; about 15 grams of pre-measured and packaged fentanyl; and about 100 Gabapentin pills.

“We are happy to have quickly responded and apprehended these offenders on what began as a fairly minor offence ,” says Cpl. John Learn of the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit. “Removing these armed individuals and their weapons from our streets is the type of impact that the Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction strives for.”
