Aug 28, 2024 | 2:54 PM

Moms Stop the Harm and Turning Point invite residents to remember those who have died from overdose and drug poisoning on International Overdose Awareness Day, August 31.

On August 30, the groups will hold a remembrance ceremony beginning at noon in Rotary Park, where there will be prayers, speakers, and harm reduction training. There will also be a barbecue.

At 2:30, there will be a “Gone too Soon” Walk to Remember (memorial walk) to City Hall Park, where Moms Stop the Harm will have a display and a short presentation.

The event is expected to finish by about 4 p.m.

The two organizations invite anyone who has lost a loved one to a poisoned drug supply or other substance use related deaths to “stand in solidarity with us as we honour those who are gone too soon,” says a representative.
