Alberta Wild softball team wins gold at international tournament

Led by coach Trudy Haraldson of Red Deer, the Alberta Wild fast pitch softball team secured an impressive gold medal win at the Pan American Master Games in Cleveland, Ohio recently.

Over the course of the three day event, from July 12-14, the team went 6-0 and finished the tournament undefeated.

Their final match was against Australia, who they lost to in the 2017 World Master Games, losing their chance at a bronze metal. They saw redemption this time with a 10-0 win against the team.

The rest of their scores include:

  • 6-3 against the Bruisers (Australia, Japan)
  • 13-0 against Canadian Thunderstruck
  • 6-4 against Canadian Thunderstruck
  • 8-2 against the Bruisers (Australia, Japan)
  • 9-3 against Canadian Thunderstruck
  • 10-0 against the Bruisers (Australia, Japan)

In the past, the team won bronze at the World Master Games in Italy in 2013.

The team has more than 35 players from Alberta, and two from Saskatchewan.
