Final hours to get Lucky Bucks tickets to support Red Deer Kinsmen

It’s the final countdown to get tickets for this year’s Lucky Bucks fundraiser, in support of the Red Deer Kinsmen.

The deadline, which was originally Dec. 31, 2023, was extended to 11:59 p.m. on June 28.

A ticket gives buyers a chance at winning $400,000 plus other cash prizes, plus there are 50/50 tickets available, with the jackpot at just under $100,000 as of noon on June 26.

Of course ticket sales benefit all the amazing things the Red Deer Kinsmen do for the community.

“Any money we fundraise stays in central Alberta,” says Scott Bourke, Lucky Bucks co-chair. “We’ve been partners with Youth HQ and Camp Alexo, for example, and we’ve donated to the Child Advocacy Centre. We get requests from all different areas, including from schools and for playgrounds.”

Bourke estimates the Kinsmen get between 20 and 30 project funding requests each year. Past grants have also gone to Aspire Special Needs, The Lending Cupboard, Red Deer Hospice, and Vantage Community Services, to name a few.

Twenty finalists will be drawn July 5, and then a finale event will be held at Bo’s Bar and Stage on Saturday, July 20, featuring a reverse draw to declare a grand prize winner.

All finalists are winners:

$1,000 paid to the first 5 tickets drawn

$2,500 paid to the next 5 tickets drawn

$5,000 paid to the next 5 tickets drawn

$10,000 paid to the next 4 tickets drawn

$400,000 paid to the last ticket.

The 50/50 winner will also be drawn at Bo’s. Winners do not have to be in attendance, but organizers are hoping they are in order to make the event that much more exciting.

Ten weekly prizes were given out in December before the deadline was extended.

The Lucky Bucks Lottery replaces the dream home lottery the Kinsmen have done in past years.
