Football Alberta hosting U16 Alberta Bowl in Red Deer June 9

The latest edition of the U16 Alberta Bowl goes this weekend in Red Deer.

The event this Sunday at Setters Place at Great Chief Park started in 2005, and features two all-star teams comprised of 80 total players from around the province.

The two teams duke it out with the top 40 players to be selected to Team Alberta at the Football Canada U16 Western Challenge, July 3-6 in Regina.

The selection process starts in April with 400 players; in May, 160 get shortlisted, and then it’s cut to 80 for the Alberta Bowl. All players are born in 2009 or 2010.

Tickets are $10 with kickoff at 1 p.m.
