Aspire needs walkers, runners and wheelers for June fundraiser

May 8, 2024 | 3:53 PM

Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre holds its 12th annual Push & Pace Fundraising Walk, Run or Wheel event on June 1, beginning at Parkland School.

The organization supports children with special needs, and the event’s proceeds will support programs and services, and specialized equipment purchases.

“Push & Pace is much more than a fundraiser: it is an opportunity for central Alberta families to come out on the day and have some fun. Everyone is welcome. Even if you are not racing, there is plenty to do, all in an inclusive environment,” says Megan Fitzpatrick, Aspire’s events and donor relations coordinator.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Participants can then join the 10 a.m. warm-up before the first race starts at 10:15 a.m.

Children eight-and-under are free to register, while adults cost $15 and youth cost $10.

There are routes of one, three, and five kilometres, all on paved paths so those with strollers or mobility aids can still comfortably participate.

Afterward, there will be a barbecue lunch and children’s entertainment including a bouncy castle, face painting, a sensory tent, and playground access. Aspire will also announce the winners of their annual Children’s Raffle grand prize, a 2024 Dodge Hornet GT valued at $41,440.

“If you can’t participate in the race, join us for festivities or please sponsor a runner as every dollar counts,” adds Fitzpatick.

All donations and pledges help Aspire support children with diverse needs in central Alberta.
