The Lending Cupboard is hosting its 13th annual Ladies’ Luncheon on May 9 at the Red Deer Resort & Casino.
The event will raise funds to help the organization in its mission to provide central Albertans with medical equipment at no cost, on a loan-out basis.
Executive Director Lori Shatto says this year’s luncheon, which they’re aiming to have 300 in attendance for, will honour Lending Cupboard founder Jaqui Joys, who passed away earlier this year.
“Watching this event grow over the years and witnessing its impact on our work at TLC has been incredible,” says Shatto. “I’m eagerly anticipating everyone coming together to support each other and TLC’s work in central Alberta.”
The number of users at the organization is up year over year.
From July 2022 to June 2023, there were 34,000 pieces of equipment that were processed in one way or another, with 13,000 people helped.
From July 2023 to March 2024, over 27,000 pieces of equipment have been processed, and roughly 10,000 people have been helped.
She says if there are any items they need more of, it’s knee scooters and cryo-cuffs.
Tickets to the luncheon are $50 each and can be purchased online at lendingcupboard.ca.
