Planned power outage scheduled in Ponoka for May 2 for emergency electrical maintenance and repairs

Officials with the Town of Ponoka have announced a planned power outage scheduled for Thursday, May 2 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, as crews conduct emergency electrical maintenance and repairs.

Officials say the planned outage will affect the Ponoka Aquaplex, which will be closed from approximately 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Regular programming and swimming lessons will be cancelled during that time.

Regular programming is expected to resume at approximately 12 noon once the planned outage ends. The Town says Aquaplex programming scheduled before 8 a.m. should be unaffected by the planned outage.

Other properties in Ponoka that will be affected by the power outage on May 2, 2024, include the following areas:

• North of 46 Avenue, east of 54 Street, south of 48 Avenue, and west of 51 Street;

• North of 46 Avenue, east of 51 Street, south of 47 Avenue, and west of the back alley that runs north and south just west of 50 Street;

• North of Highway 53, east of 54 Street, south of 46 Avenue and west of 52 Street (except for three properties between 44 Avenue and 43 Avenue Close – see attached map); and

• East of 52 Street, south of 46 Avenue, west of Hammy’s, and north of the alley that runs east and west behind Hammy’s. If you have questions, please phone 403-783-4431.
