Red Deer man charged after police locate stolen vehicle

Red Deer RCMP have arrested and charged a local man in connection to a stolen vehicle that was located late last month.

On March 31, RCMP were conducting patrols when they observed a vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier that morning.

Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver fled.

The vehicle was located later that night, abandoned near a residence in Red Deer.

Police Dog Services assisted in trying to locate the suspect. Members were able to identify the suspect and arrested him without incident.

The 41-year-old resident of Red Deer, has been charged with the following:

  • Flight from Police
  • Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while over 80mg%
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Fail to comply with release order x2

Following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, the man was remanded into custody. He was scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on April 19.
