Apr 18, 2024 | 12:06 PM

Registration for the Red Deer Hospice’s 17th annual Run/Hike event is now open.

Participants will have the option to walk or run either one, three or five kilometers routes on Sunday, June 9.

Organizers say it will be a day to remember and reflect, while taking in the natural beauty of the trails in and around Bower Ponds.

In-person registration will be on June 9 at 9 a.m., where participants can also pick up their swag bag, with the run/walk beginning at 10 a.m.

The first 200 registrants will receive a t-shirt and participants will also be able to enjoy a light breakfast or a hot, post-race lunch, provided by Mr. Mikes, alongside live entertainment from the band ‘Fun House’ in the amphitheater.

“This event is a beautiful way of remembering a loved one, while spending time with family and friends,” said Jerri Taylor, Executive Director of Red Deer Hospice. “As a key fundraiser for our organization, we hope to raise $50,000 this year.”

Proceeds and donations will go towards Red Deer Hospice’s mission of supporting a peaceful and compassionate end of life journey.

Participants can also send in a picture and name of who they are running for to events@reddeerhospice.com for the Hospice’s “In Honour of Album”, shared on their website and social media pages.

Teams and individuals can register on the Red Deer Hospice website for $25 per person.
