The Rebels are now down 2-0, having played both games on Blades territory, and return to Red Deer this week for the next two games.

Although a few power play opportunities presented themselves on either side in the first period, none were capitalized on. Saskatoon outshot Red Deer 7-2.

Halfway through the middle frame, the Blades’ Fraser Minten opened the scoreboard 1-0 with a goal on Rebels netminder Chase Wutzke.

The home team outshot the visitors 21-8.

But with Saskatoon’s John Babcock on a hooking penalty early in the final period, the Rebels’ Lind scored his third goal this playoff season with a deflection as he stood in front of goaltender Evan Gardner’s crease. The power play goal tied the game 1-1 at 4:10, with Hunter Mayo and Carson Latimer claiming the assists.

The score remained tied for the rest of the third period, with Saskatoon slightly outshooting Red Deer 11-10.

Heading into a 20-minute overtime, it wasn’t until the final three minutes when the Blades’ Ben Saunderson scored the game winning goal, making it 2-1 for his team.

Saskatoon outshot Red Deer 10-5 in OT.
