The City of Red Deer has announced three recipients of the Bob Stollings Memorial Award, given out each year to City employees who display outstanding performance in alignment with the values of respect, integrity, service and excellence.

Nominations are submitted by fellow colleagues at The City.

The recipients this year are John Galbraith, Tamara Greba and Leigh-Ann Martin.

“This year, three extraordinary employees stood out as more than deserving of this recognition. Each one of these exceptional individuals go above and beyond, exceeding the bar set for our Bob Stollings award recipients, which is why this year, we are celebrating three invaluable employees,” said City Manager, Tara Lodewyk.

Galbraith is a welder, and he ensures all City machinery and equipment is working properly and in a cost-efficient manner.

That includes fixing playgrounds, snowplows and buses.

Greba began her work at The City as a lifeguard at the G.H. Dawe, and is now Recreation Facilities Supervisor. Her involvement with the Dawe expansion project showcased her ability to model strong leadership while strategically management many small details.

Finally, Martin is the Geographic Information System (GIS) Supervisor, with a skill set sought after by many departments. She worked tirelessly to migrate The City’s mapping information into a new GIS system in 2022 and 2023.

She is also a strong ambassador to the community for diversity and inclusion, as evidenced by her support of Syrian refugees, The City notes.

“We are incredibly excited to honour these three exceptional individuals with this award,” said City Manager Lodewyk. “Their unwavering commitment to modelling our cornerstone values makes them truly deserving recipients of this year’s Bob Stollings Memorial Award,”

The Bob Stollings Memorial Award was established in 1985 and is presented every year to honour Robert (Bob) E. Stollings, a loyal and dedicated City employee from 1960-1984.
